You have to love the off season in the NFL if it is not some player getting arrested on a DUI or for having an illegal firearm then it is one of the all time greats retiring and then deciding that he maybe wants to come back for another year to finally I want to come back and if the Packers don’t want me then I should be released.
Yet again Brett makes the summer interesting with his on / off retirement plans. I love this guy and felt after last season that he still had a lot to offer the Packers and should hang about. Then when I say that he decides that he really just wants the easy life and wants to retire. Fair play to the gut he knows his body better than anyone else and the fact that he said he wasn’t sure mentally about the whole thing said to me that retirement was the way forward. But give Brett a few weeks of being retired and he suddenly realises that he made a bad decision and wants to come back and this is the part that has me all confused and a little upset.
Brett, I feel, could have conducted himself and his willingness to come back and play in a total different way. Maybe it is just me or maybe it is the fact that I’m thousand of miles away in Scotland but there seems to be way too many stories coming out of Brett’s camp via the media and I think he is doing himself no favours.
The most worrying aspects of it all is the Packers unwillingness to have Brett back, though I do see the sense in it and Brett’s willingness to go and play anywhere else just as long as he gets back into the game. Come on Brett you are a Packer, you had all your glory days as a Packer and you should end your career a Packer. You only have to look at Michael Jordan to see that coming back and playing for someone else is not a good idea. Half the people I know can’t even mind MJ playing for someone else other than the Bulls.
So please pretty please Brett either stay retired or only come back and play for Green Bay! If you really must come back then come and play for the Redskins not the Vikings if for no other reason it would really annoy my good mate Luke.
