Well done to Annan for getting into the Scottish Football League (SFL) and hopefully they will be a better ambassador for that area of the country than Gretna were.  The team seems to be much more community based than Gretna was and also have a bigger fan base and a social club to keep them going.

Out of the 5 teams that made the short list Spartans, Edinburgh City, Preston, Annan and Cove Rangers I thought that Annan were outsiders to get in.  Though they seemed to have won through due to most of the infrastructure already being in place rather than teams promising that they would have it in place.  Cove and Spartans were the main teams who were saying you let us in and we’ll do X and Y.

Thankfully though Edinburgh City never made it through.  Nothing against the team personally but I have experienced the hell of Meadowbank stadium on a Wednesday night with a crowd of 86 or something that ridiculous.  In fact the only good think about going to Meadowbank was that you could go play in the long jump when the football was rubbish and following Stirling it can get pretty rubbish.

Overall I am looking forward to getting a trip to Annan in the future and to Galabankie (strange stadium in my opinion) since that part of the country isn’t an area I know all that well.
