This was one of the best competitions I have ever witnessed. I thought the quality of play was magnificent, both in attack and in defence. The only sour point in the whole tournament was some of the comments on the television. The BBC in particular were almost racist in their comments with regards the German team. When will these people grow up and stop hating a nation for being good at sport. That’s the second time that Germany have reached the final of a major tournament and to listen to the presenters you would think they were a pub team.

Was truly glad that Spain won it and thought that some of their players put in some top performances through the contest. TorresTorres, Xavi and Senna being the best of the lot.

The players that were particular poor in my opinion were:

Ronaldo – just doesn’t seem to do on the really big occasion often enough
Ballack – one or two touches of greatest but overall pretty poor.
Toni – maybe just didn’t get enough service but overall a tournament to forget.
Entire French team except Ribery – what has happened to this team?
Silva – thought he might be the player of the tournament but failed to shine to his full potential.

Finally here is my team of the tournament

GK – Boruc ( Poland) – was outstanding all 3 of his games and the only GK to be anywhere near as good as him was Buffon.
RB – Sergio Ramos (Spain) – not a player I particular like but thought he got better with each game.
LB – Zhirkov (Russia) – Was easily the best Russian player on show and looked a top notch player.
CB – Cetin (Turkey) – played through injury and was outstanding in the games he did play.
CB – Simic (Croatia) – could have picked either of the two Croatian centre halves but thought Simic was the better of the two. Both of these players just didn’t get the recognition that they deserved during the tournament.
RM – Schweinsteiger (Germany) – one silly moment when he got sent off but after that some top level performances and a couple of quality goals.
LM – Fabregas (Spain) – not his normal position but no room for him in the centre of the midfield but he does deserve to be in this team.
CM – Xavi (Spain) – total footballer and will be in high demand after this competition.
CM – Senna (Spain) – model holding midfield player and like Xavi will be heavily linked to premiership clubs this summer.
CF – Torres (Spain) – worked all the time and got that important goal in the final.
CF – Pavlyuchenko (Russia) – worked hard in every game up front alone and provide the basis for most of the Russian attacks.
